What you need to know about the "Shark Tank" for producers
The brainchild of BEATCAVE INC. and originally named "The Canadian Beatmakers League", the Global Beatmakers League had its first season April 2020 as a way to provide opportunities for placements, networking, and education for producers all over the world. Each season is a bit different but the goal is always the same- get producers in front of artists, managers, producers, A&R's, and industry tastemakers that can help players level up.
The Canadian Beatmakers League Season 1
60 players from around the world came together to compete in a "head to head" style battle. With esteemed "scouts" including Ivan Evidente Head of A&R for Universal Canada, Polaris Prize winning artist and producer Haviah Mighty, and influential producer and you-tuber Simon Servida were just a few of the scouts that players received feedback from. The winner of this season was Denise De'Ion. Denise, an up and coming Toronto artist and producer, was able to go on to collaborate with both Haviah Mighty & SDWRx Studios- who hosted our inaugural season. Denise has recently released her first NFT single "Juice" in collaboration with Bacardi & Boi-1da as part of their "Music Liberates Music" and continues to exceed expectations with her art.
The Evolution: The Global Beatmakers League
After an overwhelming amount of international players in the Canadian Beatmakers League it only seemed fitting to pivot. We officially became the "Global Beatmakers League" in October 2020 with our first season hosted by award winning MC Sir Lancelot and featured Young TN, Wade B, Lucas T Dot, Andrew "Chefboyardru" Brenner, and Warner Music Canada A&R Ricardo. From this season "Fan Favourite" TipTip was signed to a management deal and continues to collaborate with many other players . GBL: Season 2 scouts included Internet Money's JR "Hitmaker", co-founder of Undeniable Management Josh Hall, and 88 Glam manager Melody. We featured players from France, Denmark, Algeria, and England.
SEASON 3: SHOOT YOUR SHOT- November 2021
The third season of the GBL is set to start November 21st 2021. This season we are stepping away from music managers and A&R's and are focusing on putting producers directly in front of artists. The lineup includes Toronto's rising star Pressa, Kris the $Pirit, Memoria XI, Suigeneris, and Neemz. Each player will be able to introduce themselves and play a minute of their beat for each artist.
